The Water Resources team will be kept hopping in the Kansas City area in the coming months. Olsson Associates was awarded two major projects in June, and both are significant wins for the team. The first is the On-Call Stormwater Engineering services for the City of Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO). The second is the Indian Creek Stormwater Improvements project in Olathe, Kansas.
Kansas City On-Call Stormwater Engineering
The Kansas City On-Call Stormwater Engineering project involves a wide range of planning, design, construction, and maintenance responsibilities for the KCMO Water Services Department. The work will entail assessing water qualities, floodplains, pipe systems, combined sewers, levees, dams, lakes, major channels, property buyouts, and maintenance. Many of these services are on an emergency basis following large flood events. Olsson is the lead consultant for this three-year, on-call contract, which also includes TREKK Design Group, SK Design Group, VSM Engineering, HG Consult, and SE3.
Indian Creek Stormwater Improvements
The Indian Creek Stormwater Improvements project involves creating a more stable, ecologically functioning stream corridor. The improvements will also reduce flood risks so citizens can safely enjoy the area’s recreational and environmental amenities.
Olsson recently completed the Indian Creek Fluvial Geomorphology Study for the City of Olathe. With this prior experience, team members have the knowledge and insight and can jump into the project with an immediate understanding of the stream system and the appropriate stabilization measures.
