Olsson Announces New Professional Engineers

Olsson Associates' Ross Barron, Tim Jensen, Joel Jirak, Jared Jochum, Carlos Medina, Carrie Romero and Jeremy Walker have passed their professional engineering (PE) exams and have been promoted to associate engineers. The requirements to become a professional engineer include four years of professional experience under a licensed professional engineer and passing the PE exam.

Ross Barron

Barron is a member of Olsson's Lincoln Bridge/Structural team. He has been with the firm since 2008 and has a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He specializes in structural design issues, bridge load rating and field inspection.

Tim Jensen

Jensen is a member of Olsson's Sarpy Geotechnical team. He has been with the firm since 2006 and has a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He specializes in performing geotechnical subsurface explorations for several design teams within the firm.

Joel Jirak

Jirak is a member of Olsson's Lincoln Public Infrastructure team. He has been with the firm since 2002 and has a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He specializes in the design and construction of wastewater treatment facilities and sanitary sewer systems.

Jared Jochum

Jochum is a member of Olsson's Lincoln Automation and Technology team. He has been with the firm since 2009 and has a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He specializes in automation and controls, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) development and integrating systems.

Carlos Medina

Medina is a member of Olsson's Hastings Public Infrastructure team. He has been with the firm since 2005 and has a B.S. in civil engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He specializes in the planning and design of public works projects including water treatment plants, water distribution mains, water towers, wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection system and commercial/residential developments.

Carrie Romero

Romero is a member of Olsson's Omaha Water Resources team. She has been with the firm since 2006 and has a B.S. in biological systems engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She specializes in projects that involve hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, floodplain mapping and management, levee certification, channel stabilization, lake restoration and hazard mitigation planning.

Jeremy Walker

Walker is a member of Olsson's Siouxland Public Infrastructure team. He has been with the firm since 2005 and has a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He specializes in projects involving water, wastewater, flow systems and environmental engineering.

Klinkenberg

Kevin Klinkenberg Joins Olsson Associates

Kevin Klinkenberg, AIA, has joined Olsson's Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning team as a senior planner. He will work with members of the firm's land development and urban design/planning teams across the country, including Kansas City, Mo., Omaha, Neb., Denver, Colo., and Phoenix, Ariz.

Klinkenberg has more than 18 years of experience within a wide range of planning and urban design projects in all regions of the country. His expertise ranges from the design and master planning of neighborhoods and communities, to the writing of form-based zoning codes for developers and municipalities. He is a frequent speaker and writer on issues related to the design and planning of walkable communities, including several years as faculty with the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Form-Based Codes Institute.

In 2010, Klinkenberg served as the president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Kansas City chapter. He is a fellow with the Knight Program in Community Building through the University of Miami and the Knight Foundation, and a graduate of the University of Kansas. He has also been a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) since 1997.

Clairmont

Craig Clairmont Joins Olsson Associates' Airport Group

Craig Clairmont, PE, LEED AP, has joined Olsson's Airport group as a senior project engineer. He will help the firm grow its engineering services to airports across Missouri and Kansas.

Clairmont has more than 20 years of engineering and project management experience for two industry leading engineering consulting firms, serving in all aspects of civil engineering design, construction and project management. His aviation project experience includes leading and designing projects for commercial, cargo and general aviation facilities.

He is a registered professional engineer, a LEEDŽ accredited professional, and a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Clairmont has a B.S. in civil engineering from Bradley University.

Zablocki

Shawn Zablocki Promoted at Olsson Associates

Olsson Associates announces that Shawn Zablocki, PE, has been promoted to environmental practice group leader. He is tasked with working with environmental teams in each of Olsson's offices and helping grow the environmental practice firmwide.

Since joining Olsson in 2009, he has led the Omaha environmental team and has been instrumental in working with clients in the manufacturing sector and promoting safety within Olsson Associates.

Zablocki has 20 years of experience working in all aspects of environmental engineering and health and safety management. Before joining Olsson, he worked in the food industry for ConAgra and Kraft Foods North America, and he also worked in consumer goods manufacturing and for a regulatory agency.

Zablocki has a B.S. in chemical engineering from Toledo University and is a registered professional engineer.

Orr

Bob Orr Joins Olsson Associates

Bob Orr, RG, has joined Olsson's Kansas City Environmental/Energy team and will serve as a client leader. At Olsson, Orr will focus on environmental, energy, and transportation efforts.

"I am excited about the opportunity to work for Olsson Associates and look forward to the continued success and growth of the firm," Orr said.

Sterling Cramer, Olsson's Kansas City office leader, said that Orr's role will provide guidance for the firm's new environmental and energy initiatives.

"He brings valuable expertise and wisdom to the firm," Cramer said. "We are pleased to have him on board."

Orr has more than 20 years of experience within a wide range of environmental planning, compliance and remediation projects. He has managed engineering, planning and environmental studies throughout the United States for private and public sector clients.

Most recently, Orr was a vice president and senior project manager at Wilbur Smith Associates' Kansas City office, where he conducted environmental studies on multiple corridor and roadway projects.

Orr is a registered professional geologist in Missouri and is a member of the Association of Missouri Geologists, the Association of Engineering Geologists, the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the Missouri Groundwater Association.
