The original father and son firm of Hare & Hare, founded in 1910, played a significant role in the development of Kansas City, Missouri. The two were instrumental in designing of Kansas City’s parks and boulevard system, the original Country Club Plaza, and residential communities in the Country Club District.

Original Hare & Hare drawings and images are on display at a new exhibition at Ellis Library at the University of Missouri to celebrate the significance of Hare & Hare’s work. According to Ken Boone, team leader of Olsson's Design Studio, the material for the exhibit was donated by the firm and Ralph Ochsner to the Missouri State Historical Society.

“There was a grand effort to sort all that work in order to save all the work of Hare & Hare,” Ken said. “A grant was received by the State Historical Society of Missouri, Kansas City Research Center to preserve everything that we donated.”

In addition, Hare & Hare is the subject of an upcoming book by Carol Grove, an adjunct assistant professor of American Art and Architecture at the University of Missouri.

The exhibition runs now through December 23, Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
